About the Eve Therapy Counselling Agency?
Eve Therapy Training & Counselling Services offers a low-cost high-quality affordable community counselling service for those living in Southwark, who may not be able to access counselling due to cost. We are very proud to be able to offer this service to Southwark residents who can access our service in East Dulwich, South East London. What does our Counselling Service provide? Our counsellors provide a safe, non-judgemental space for clients to talk about their personal issues. We aim to listen and encourage clients to explore their individual situations in greater depth and seek to reduce any worry and anxiety. Who can use Eve Counselling Services? Anyone who lives or works within the London Borough of Southwark. However, if you live outside the borough, please still do get in contact. Do you offer clients information advice or guidance (IAG)? Our counsellors do not give advice or provide their clients with any direct solutions to their issues or concerns but we seek to facilitate the development of the clients’ self-awareness, which results in clients being able to choose their own best way forward. We seek to build trusting relationships which promote equality, respect and trust. Our counsellors must have integrity, be honest and open and be able to keep boundaries and confidentiality. How are counsellors supported? Our practising counsellors regularly attend ongoing supervision with a trained and registered supervisory, senior counsellor in order to enhance their practice, protect their clients and assure their personal wellbeing as a practitioner. What we offer? We offer both face to face and online counselling and our service is open to individuals who contact us directly themselves, as well as those who have been referred from GPs and other agencies. Counselling is only ever undertaken on the request and with the consent of a client, never without it. One to One counselling sessions last 50 minutes and are booked and paid for in advance. What are the requirements?
We aim to find you a suitable counsellor within a short period of your contacting us, after an initial assessment to assess your needs.
Therapeutic Approach? We offer person-centred therapy and integrative therapy. The therapy can be both short or long term depending on which will be of most benefit. Person-centred therapy: Person-centred therapy is based on the view that everyone has the capacity and desire for personal growth and change, given the right conditions. Rather than being seen as the expert and directing the therapy, the counsellor by providing the core conditions of empathy, acceptance and honesty creates a safe space within which you can freely express your problems, difficult emotions and feelings enabling you to explore issues, gain self-understanding and change and develop in your own way. Integrative therapy: Integrative therapy draws on mainstream theoretical perspectives integrating knowledge and skills from different therapies. Working with you the counsellor uses insights and techniques of person-centred therapy, psychodynamic therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy to help you bring about the changes you want in your life. You will be encouraged to explore your feelings and take responsibility for thoughts and actions with an emphasis on self-development. The different types of therapy will be discussed during the intake session. |

What we can support you with?
We believe that Counselling can support clients in some very specific areas, for example:
Cost and Times We are independent. We do not get funding from the government or NHS. We need to ask you for a contribution to the costs of running our service, which includes paying for our room booking, supervision and training for our counsellors. This is always less than the cost of private counselling and is tailored to your ability to pay. We will agree this with you at your initial intake meeting and you may need to bring some up-to-date evidence of your income. Special circumstances of financial hardship can be discussed. We do not like to turn anyone away.
Counselling sessions are 50-minutes in duration, at the same time each week with the same counsellor (You will understand that we have to charge for late cancellations) i.e. less that 24-hours notice |
